Practice & Playing Time, Attendance & Participant Expectations:

Volley Masters VBC provides the highest quality skill training in all aspects of the sport of volleyball. Practices are monitored and directed by lead coaches who have been selected based on their experience and mastery of the sport. Practice sessions are under the direct supervision of club director, Adrienne Delph, who will physically be present at the majority of all team practices. If she is unable to attend a given practice she will plan team practices which will be lead by a senior staff coach.

Playing time for individual players at tournaments is not guaranteed for every set. Playing time among players on a team may not be equal, however, playing opportunities will be offered to each player on a team in every match. Players must work to earn their playing time. The team coach will determine the playing time of each athlete based on her performance in practices and tournaments, her role and position on the team, her attendance at practices, and her work ethic and coachability at practices and at tournaments.

Players are expected to attend every scheduled practice. Practice schedules will be assigned at the beginning of each month for the entire month. There is an 85% practice attendance rule for each player in the event emergencies may arise during the season and attendance at practice may become impossible. There are no penalties for players who miss practice within the 85% attendance rule. Playing time at tournaments may be affected for those players who miss more than 85% of practices. Attendance will be taken at each practice throughout the season. If there is a change to the team practice schedule due to bad weather issues or unforeseen gym scheduling conflicts, players will be notified as early as possible by email and on the web. www.columbusvolleyballacademy.com/volleymasters

Players may practice with other teams at a time different from their own team practice during a given week if that will allow them to avoid missing. This should only be done on a limited basis. Attendance credit will be given in these cases.

Players are expected to attend 100% of their scheduled tournaments. Conflicts relating to tournament attendance will be reviewed on a case by case basis only. The season schedule will be completed by January and it is unlikely to change. Possible changes to tournament schedules are usually only due to bad weather issues. Parents, family or family friends should never approach a coach at a tournament with their concerns or issues. A meeting will be arranged at an agreed upon date with the club director, team coach and parents or other parties involved. Team families and friends are expected to be supportive of all team members, coaches and staff at all times at all tournaments.
